Lake Superior has a majestic splendor with over 1,800 miles of shoreline and 31,820 square miles. It is 380 miles east to west and 160 miles north to south. It holds three quadrillion (3,000,000,000,000,000) gallons of water, enough to submerge all of North and South America under one foot of water. It could hold the water from all of the other Great Lakes, along with three more Lake Eries. The deepest point could fit the Sears Tower with only a few floors sticking out above the water.
You can walk the beach with that special someone, pick up agates, or just watch the waves as they wash up on the shore. Or take a dip if you dare! Lake Superior has the cleanest water of the Great Lakes. Take a day off and fish the waters of mighty Lake Superior, catching trout, salmon, and any of the other varieties that it has to offer.
The shore of the “Big Lake” is alive any season of the year. A magnificent sunset over the water is the perfect end to a day in Ontonagon County.
Lake Superior is “clearly superior,” and pictures say it best!
