Whatever your favorite time of year or whatever your favorite outdoor activity, the Ontonagon County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome you to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a great place to visit—and stay awhile.
We’re on the south shore of Lake Superior, with miles of sandy agate beaches and fabulous sunsets. On the west side is Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park with miles of hiking, Alpine and Nordic ski trails, and hundreds of acres of virgin timber. In the south part of the county, we have Lake Gogebic and the Ottawa National Forest. All this surrounds over 100 waterfalls and miles of snowmobile and multi-use trails. The North Country Trail bisects our county on its route from the Appalachian Trail in Vermont to the Lewis and Clark Trail in North Dakota.
